HELITE är ett franskt företag som hör till en av de få som har lång erfarenhet inom airbag-teknologi för användning inom flertalet sporter. Idag utvecklar och säljer de produkter för exempelvis MC, ridsport samt hängflygning.

Produkterna för MC är godkända och CE-testade under den nya normen för airbag-system anpassade för MC-bruk (EN-1621-4:2011)
samt testas även löpande av Helite själva på fristående laboratorier och institut.

Plaggen är konstruerade för att täcka och skydda en så stor del av överkroppen som möjligt. De ger ett gott skydd av bla. nacke, ryggrad, bröstkorg, höfter och inre organ.
Vid en olycka fylls västen med kolsyra från en patron vilken utlöses mekaniskt via en rem som fästs på motorcykeln. Denna rem bör fästas i en ramdel framför föraren och helst så lågt som möjligt.

Uppblåsningen av airbagen till optimalt tryck vilket sker på endast 0,12 sekunder
men redan efter 0,09 sekunder skyddar den nacke och bröstkorg. Sedan tömmer den sig automatiskt under ett par minuter, kolsyrepatronen som fyllt airbagen byts enkelt ut och mekanismen återställs med hjälp av en vanlig insexnyckel.
Därefter är produkten klar att användas igen, med andra ord är produkterna pålitliga, enkla att installera och mycket driftsäkra. Dessutom kan de användas på ett obegränsat antal fordon och är återanvändbara vilket gör de mycket prisvärda jämfört med mer komplicerade elektroniska system. Enkel konstruktion som fungerar, gammal hederlig mekanisk teknik, inga batterier som kan ta slut.

The Helite Custom Airbag Vest offers the highest level of rider safety. The high quality leather vest protects riders' spine and vital organs due to its revolutionary design, inorporating a back protector on top of the air bag that disperses impact forces across the vest instead of concentrated in one spot. With its mechanical trigger and lead system, there are no delicate sensors to fail or batteries to replace. Simply connect the lead to your vest and bike and go. When the rider is ejected from the motorcycle in the event of a accident, the trigger is pulled and the vest inflates, creating a rigid neck brace as well as firm support to the spine, back, chest, ribs and kidneys.

Sizing Recommendations: The vests are made to be long enough to sit on, but you do not want the rib protection so low that it is covering below the waist. The other fit to avoid is wearing the vest too small so it rides up high under the arms. The vest should have a loose fit and be long enough to cover the hip and pelvic areas in the event of an accident.

This leather vest is high-quality and can be worn when it is raining. However, it was not designed to be waterproof so the best solution is to wear a waterproof jacket under your Custom airbag. If you want to wear a waterproof jacket over your Custom, it must be large enough to guarantee an optimal inflation of the airbag and to keep an optimal protection.

Like every leather vest a maintenance is necessary to keep its flexibility and its color. We recommend to maintain the airbag vest on a regular base using suitable products. Caution, do not wash the vest with a washing machine or with cleaning supplies, you can damage the leather.

Can I wear a backpack over a Helite Airbag system? Yes, while keeping in mind that the more resistance there is, the slower the airbag will deploy properly. We recommend to adjust your backpack straps fairly wide.

Is the airbag reusable? Yes, as long as the airbag is in good condition (no holes, tears) you can reuse it. Easy to do, you can reset the system yourself in 2 minutes, without sending your vest back to Helite. It is only necessary to replace the CO2 cartridge with a new one, available at all Helite dealers worldwide. Please, check the size of the airbag when replacing cartridges. Can the airbg activate itself automatically? What if i forget to detach myself? Helite airbags are mechanical to avoid unexpected airbag activation. Accidental deployments are extremely rare. The tractive force required to activate the airbag is between 20 and 30 kg depending on the size. If a rider forgets to detach from his bike, he will feel a strong tension on his vest or jacket before the airbag is triggered. As the car belt, clip and unclip the motorcycle strap will quickly become a habit.
